ABOUT THE TRAINING
Many people come to a yoga practice with a goal of becoming more flexible. This training is intended for yoga teachers and practitioners who want to help others (and often themselves!) increase flexibility and advance their asana practice. This training will teach you how to incorporate isometric stretching techniques such as Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR), Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) into your classes and practice. You will gain an understanding of the science behind these techniques and learn how to safely and effectively guide others through various flexibility exercises using props, walls and hands-on assists.
The techniques taught in this training are suitable for yogis of all levels, and will enable yoga teachers to empower their students to achieve their flexibility goals. Whether your students want to touch their toes, do a split, or feel good in pigeon, these techniques will enable you as a teacher to alchemize heat, time and oxygen into a stretch practice that will leave your students awe-struck at what their bodies can do!
Following this training, you will have the opportunity to schedule a community class taught in this method in order to gain additional practice time.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Meagan Woods received her yoga training from Sonic Yoga in NYC and has taught a range movement classes for the past 15 years. She is also a dancer and choreographer, with a BFA from Rutgers University and an MFA from Simon Fraser University. Meagan started her flexibility journey off as a ballerina who was the last one in the class to get a split…it was a struggle!!! But after years of studying specific asanas, breathwork, and contraction/relaxation muscle techniques, she has gained an understanding of how to help other stiff humans feel longer and more open in their bodies. If you too have struggled with flexibility or want to go deeper in certain poses, this training is for you. And if you’re familiar with Meagan’s teaching style, you know that curiosity, camaraderie, and play are all part of the experience- come as you are and leave feeling taller and more joyful!
